Join us on September 29, 2015 to celebrate choreographer Jonah Bokaer, his award-winning work and his commitment to supporting a new generation of artists. Founded in 2002 by Jonah, Chez Bushwick provides affordable workspace, research, and presentation opportunities to artists in North Brooklyn, while serving as a home base to Jonah, and his body of 55 works.
This celebratory event will honor visual artist Daniel Arsham, and his long time collaborative partnership with Jonah. Meeting in 2006 through legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham, for whom Jonah was dancing and Daniel was creating stage designs, they began their own collaborative process in 2007. Their work has been shown around the world, at venues including New York’s The New Museum and Lincoln Center, IVAM in Spain, the Hellenic Festival in Athens, Greece, Rotterdamse Schouwburg in the Netherlands and at the Festival d’Avignon in France, co-produced by the Hermès Foundation.
Held at the Russian Tea Room in New York City, the Gala will begin with a lively cocktail reception and DJ, followed by site-specific movement pieces and a seated dinner. We hope that you will consider joining us, as we gather art appreciators, community members, and philanthropists, to raise funds that will directly impact Chez Bushwick programs.
