Arts & Development

The largest concentration of arts-related development is centered within the Bushwick neighborhood. This activity has been carefully monitored by public programs by Chez Bushwick over the past decade. The cultural and economic vitality of this neighborhood is becoming a key initiative in New York City’s wide-ranging effort to grow Brooklyn into an purveyor of arts and culture. The sustenance of a designated North Brooklyn Coalition for Art & Performance helps to support and sustain New York City’s cultural communities, in part, by catalyzing new development and cultural programming where visual and performing artists can thrive. Coalition work in these districts of Brooklyn includes diverse programming with a strong emphasis on:

1) Visual and Performing Arts Advocacy
2) Educational Offerings to Local Youth (under the age of 18)
3) Community Real Estate Development
4) Commercial Amenities

By creating innovative alliances between partner organizations, the coalition remains a cultural resource for artists, the local community, small businesses, the Borough of Brooklyn, and New York City as a whole. Chez Bushwick acts as a bridge between the diverse populations at play in this region of Brooklyn.
